About Me!
My name is Jay Almstedt, and I am an illustrator interested in character design and concept art to help create a vision of storytelling. Whether it is a character for an RPG or the background for an animated project, I am going to give it my all so that the desired vision comes through.
When it comes to art, I try to experiment with many different mediums, ranging from a pencil to paints, to the digital screen, taking inspiration from both the ugliness and beauty of the world I live in. I tend to lean toward a darker side of creation with a touch of surrealism that can make the viewer question what they are truly seeing, the longer they look at the piece. The work I make brings together different threads to weave together worlds. Whether I am painting haunted landscapes or digitally sketching out a whimsically surreal character, a new story is created.
